C channel is made of galvanized steel strips by the method of cold-bending formed.The surface treatment is galvanized or bared. It has many advantages compared with traditional structural steel, such as light weight, excellent performance cross-section, high-strength and so on.

The main advantage of strut channel in construction is that there are many options available for rapidly and easily connecting lengths together and other items to the strut channel, using various specialized strut-specific fasteners and bolts. It can be assembled very rapidly with minimal tools and only moderately trained labor, which reduces costs significantly in many applications. A strut channel installation also can often be modified or added-to relatively easily if needed.

Application

In building uses, the most common and simplest of profiles are the lipped Z and C sections - both defined by a central vertical web joined to horizontal flanges at either end. Additional lips are included because unstiffened, wide, thin plates are unable to resist significant compression and the flanges become inefficient. 
Z sections are usually installed with the top flange pointing up the roof slope so that the load is applied through the shear centre and serious twisting of the sections does not occur. 
Cold-rolled steel purlins are manufactured from hot-dipped galvanised steel, generally with a yield strength of 450N/mm².
